5 Swaps For A Plastic Free Bathroom

According to the Centre for International Environmental Law, plastic production is estimated to grow to 60% by 2030, and to triple by 2050.

Thankfully nearly everything you use in your bathroom has a beautiful, functional and ecological alternative.

Here are a few of our favourite plastic free upgrades to give your bathroom an eco-luxe makeover.

1. Soap

Swap out liquid soap for this season’s trendiest bathroom accessory – handmade soap on a rope.

2.  Toothbrush

Bamboo grows quickly, is plant-based and completely biodegradable, making it the sustainable material of choice for toothbrushes.

The Pearly White Club has launched the UK’s first bamboo toothbrush subscription service, delivering you a new bamboo toothbrush every six weeks for just £3 a month. And every time someone subscribes, a toothbrush is donated to the homeless.

3. Deodorant

Natural deodorants aren’t often the most robust, but the benefits might arguably outweigh the negatives - particularly when we think of potential health risks associated with the aluminium found in many big name deodorants

Corpus' Natural Deodorant is our favourite aluminium-free, environmentally friendly deodorant. Every aspect of their beautifully scented deodorants is made in the United States, from the packaging, to the manufacturing via renewable hydroelectric and solar energy!

4. Mouthwash

Giant plastic bottles of mouthwash aren’t the most aesthetic - or environmentally appealing .

Waken's vegan-friendly mouthwash is infused with natural spearmint and bottled in environmentally friendly packaging made of 50% sugar cane and 50% recycled bottles.

5. Razor

Razors are among the hardest items to recycle. According to Statista.com 60.7 million razors and blade products were sold in the United Kingdom in 2017 — that means 60.7 million plastic objects were thrown away, eventually becoming landfill.
